summer maternity dresses - my testing experience
Posted: Thursday 23 April 2009
When I was asked to be a maternity clothes road tester I was thrilled. Pregnant with my second child, I was only too pleased to update my maternity clothes collection. It was summer 2008 when I was given a few summer prototypes to test.
Unfortunately, the weather last summer was terrible! Luckily for me, all the pieces of maternity clothing given to me to test were perfect for layering, and just as good worn with jeans as with summer maternity skirts and trousers.
I was lucky enough to be focussing on maternity dresses. First, the sleeveless maternity dress. I wore it a good few times over a six week period. This took me from smallish pregnancy bump to rounded bowling ball. I liked this maternity dress a lot. I got lots of positive comments from friends. It was comfortable and easy to wear. I talked to wondermummy about the length and we agreed that it could be a bit shorter. The new version looks great over maternity trousers, but isn't too short to be worn on its own.
Next, the Camelia maternity dress I was a bit suspicious about the fabric at first. However, the feel of it against the skin was wonderous - especially on the very few hot days we had. I found I was wearing it all the time. Wondermummy listened to my comments about the sleeves and the neckline and the final version is lovely.
Finally - the cross-over maternity dress. This was perfect for cooler days, and looked really nice over pregnancy jeans or on its own. The fabric was lovely, soft and stretchy too. The winning aspect of this one though is the breast-feeding design. By the time my baby was born summer was over, and this dress became my staple! There was some adjustment to be made with the nursing openings, but I certainly tested this one to the limits.
